Sadaqah on Arafah
On the holiest day of the Islamic year, make your sadaqah perpetual. Support a hosted endowment for sadaqah jariyah, or open or fund a donor-advised fund with AMCF before May 25.
The holiest days of the year. Make them count beyond them.
The first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are among the most beloved days in Islam. Of these, the Day of Arafah — when pilgrims gather on the plain of Arafat for Hajj — is the most significant. It’s a day of fasting, reflection, and du’a, and a day Muslims around the world give generously, knowing that righteous deeds during this time carry weight beyond their measure.
This year, AMCF is making it easy to make your sadaqah perpetual. Whether you’re supporting a hosted endowment that will keep giving long after Arafah passes or opening a donor-advised fund for the first time, your gift on this day doesn’t end on this day.
Two ways to give. One day that lives on.
Support a hosted endowment
Give directly to one of AMCF’s hosted endowments and your sadaqah becomes sadaqah jariyah — the principal stays invested, and the returns fund the cause forever. Multiplied reward on Arafah. Continuous reward after. One act of giving that keeps giving.
Open or fund Your DAF
Open a donor-advised fund with AMCF and step into a giving practice that lasts a lifetime. Contribute now, take your tax deduction this year, and recommend grants to the nonprofits and endowments you care about — starting with Arafah, and going long after.
Built for Muslim giving.
Since 2017, the American Muslim Community Foundation has distributed over $28 million to more than 1,000 nonprofits across the U.S. and around the world. We’re a national philanthropic platform built specifically for Muslim donors — managing donor-advised funds, hosted endowments, giving circles, and grant programs that move money where it’s needed.
When you give through AMCF, your charity stays in your hands and your community’s hands. We’re the infrastructure. You’re the impact.
Quick Questions
What is sadaqah jariyah?
Sadaqah jariyah is a continuous form of charity in Islam — a gift whose benefits keep flowing to the donor and the recipient long after it’s given. AMCF’s hosted endowments are sadaqah jariyah by design: your gift becomes part of a permanent fund whose returns support the cause forever.
What’s the difference between supporting an endowment and opening a DAF?
A hosted endowment is a perpetual fund set up by a nonprofit — your gift adds to its principal, and the returns fund that nonprofit’s work forever. A donor-advised fund is your own giving account at AMCF — you contribute, take the tax deduction, and recommend grants over time to any nonprofits or endowments you choose. Many donors do both.
What is a donor-advised fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account. You contribute, take your tax deduction in the year you give, and recommend grants to nonprofits on your own timeline. AMCF holds and invests the funds — you decide where they go.
How quickly can I open a DAF?
AMCF DAFs can be opened online in about 10 minutes. As long as you contribute by Monday, May 25, your funds will be ready to deploy in time for Arafah.
Is there an early deadline?
Endowment gifts are accepted through the Day of Arafah itself, and DAF openings and contributions through Monday, May 25. We recommend giving early — by Tuesday, May 19 — so we can process your contribution smoothly and you don’t risk the cutoff.
Can I give to international nonprofits?
Yes. AMCF makes grants to verified nonprofits in the U.S. and to qualifying international organizations.
