The Power of Us: What Your Support Makes Possible

Ramadan Mubarak.

Today marks the first part of the blessed month, and across the country, Muslim families are preparing to give. Zakat calculations are being determined. Sadaqah plans are in place. Donations will flow to causes that matter.

But here’s something most donors never think about: behind every grant, every zakat distribution, every nonprofit endowment β€” there’s infrastructure. Systems. People. Expertise.

When you support Muslim philanthropy at the infrastructure level, you’re not funding one cause. You’re powering the engine that moves millions of dollars to hundreds of causes through thousands of grants, annually.

This is giving that multiplies.

The Infrastructure You Don’t See

AMCF manages over $9 million in assets across 55+ Donor Advised Funds and 21 nonprofit endowments. Since 2016, we’ve distributed more than $26 million to over 1,000 nonprofits.

None of that happens automatically.

Behind every DAF grant:

  • Compliance review to ensure the recipient is a qualified nonprofit
  • Fund accounting to track each donor’s balance and activity
  • Payment processing to get funds to organizations quickly
  • Customer service to help donors navigate their giving

Behind every endowment:

  • Investment management following Shariah-compliant principles
  • Quarterly reporting to nonprofit partners
  • Distribution calculations based on fund performance
  • Long-term stewardship that spans decades

Behind every resource we offer:

None of this is glamorous. None of it goes viral on social media. But without it, the grants don’t move. The endowments don’t grow. The resources don’t exist.

When you support Muslim philanthropy infrastructure, you make all of it possible.

What Your Support Actually Does

Let’s get specific. When you give to AMCF operations, here’s what you’re funding:

Free Resources for the Community

Programs That Build Capacity

  • Annual Muslim Philanthropy Symposium bringing together donors and nonprofits
  • Women’s Giving Circle fostering collective giving
  • Azm Fellowship developing the next generation of nonprofit leaders
  • Professional development for Muslim nonprofit staff

Infrastructure That Moves Money

  • DAF management for 55+ funds
  • Endowment stewardship for 21 nonprofit partners
  • Grant processing that gets funds to organizations efficiently
  • Shariah-compliant investing β€” the only provider in the United States

Your gift to operations doesn’t sit in a program budget somewhere. It powers the system that makes everything else work.

The Multiplier Effect

Here’s the math that matters: your $100 helps us facilitate thousands in grants.

When you support AMCF’s infrastructure, you’re not funding a single program or a single grant. You’re funding the capacity to process hundreds of grants, manage millions in assets, and serve thousands of donors.

Think of it like a community well. You could carry water to one family, or you could help build the well that serves the entire village. Supporting infrastructure is building the well.

Every DAF grant we process, every endowment distribution we make, every donor we help calculate their zakat β€” you’re part of all of it.

That’s not metaphor. That’s how charitable infrastructure works.

The Spiritual Case

The scholars teach that those who facilitate good deeds receive reward like those who perform them. The one who guides to good is like the one who does it.

When you power the infrastructure that moves charitable dollars to worthy causes, you share in the reward of every grant. Every family fed through a food pantry grant. Every student supported through an educational scholarship. Every refugee resettled through a relief organization.

This is sadaqa jariya in a profound sense β€” your gift keeps giving through every transaction we process, every resource we provide, every donor we serve.

Not Zakat-Eligible β€” But Powerful Sadaqah

We want to be clear: AMCF prefers receiving gifts of sadaqah, as there are more important categories than Zakat Administrators that are zakat-eligible. Gifts to AMCF operations are sadaqah, not zakat.

Zakat has specific recipient categories, and organizational infrastructure doesn’t qualify. Your zakat should go directly to zakat-eligible people or causes.

But sadaqah? Sadaqah can build the systems that multiply impact. Sadaqah can fund the well, not just carry the water. Sadaqah can support Muslim philanthropy at the structural level.

And during Ramadan, sadaqah carries multiplied rewards just like any other good deed.
