When Muhi isn’t in his nonprofit leadership mode, he is likely making coffee for a complete stranger, traveling, hiking, riding his motorcycle or RV, taking photographs, and maybe even raving.

Shazeen Mufti works with the American Muslim Community Foundation’s Giving Circle Program. She is a change management consultant who specializes in developing strategies, setting up systems and streamlining operations to increase the impact of nonprofit leaders. Previously, Shazeen served as the chief operations officer for Developments in Literacy (DIL), an international organization that educates over 16,000 low-income students in Pakistan. She oversaw fundraising operations for twenty chapters in the US and financial operations in Pakistan.

Prior to that, Shazeen served as the financial director of a religious community center with over 600 members, including accounting, human resources, facilities and capital campaigns. She also led the effort to diversify revenue through earned income strategies. In the aftermath of 9-11-2001, Shazeen was a program director for the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), where she conducted cultural competency trainings about Muslims, South Asians and Arab Americans for community leaders, government officials and members of the media.

Earlier in her career, as the executive director of the South Asian Network, Shazeen developed innovative strategies to provide social services to immigrant communities by partnering with religious centers.

Shazeen currently serves on the board of the Orange County chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and chaired its 2024 National Philanthropy Day event. Shazeen is an alum of the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University and holds a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Chapman University. Shazeen lives in Orange County, California with her husband and son. When she is not working, she enjoys international cuisine, a good conversation and all forms of dance.

Dr. Shatila D. Sago-Hart is a strategic executive leader and consultant with deep expertise in financial management, grant strategy, and organizational capacity building across nonprofit and public-sector environments. She serves as Director of Operations at AMCF, building internal infrastructure and supporting external audits, donor-advised fund operations, and events planning, bringing rigor and clarity to the systems that keep the organization running.

Shatila brings this same focus to her primary role as Director of Finance and Operations at the Interaction Institute for Social Change, an organization dedicated to building collaborative capacity in individuals, organizations, and networks working for social justice and racial equity. As a consultant, she has secured and managed millions in competitive grant funding and advises nonprofits, foundations, and community-based organizations on fiscal strategy, internal controls, and executive decision-making.

Shatila holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Strategic Management and a Master of Theological Studies, and brings a data-driven, servant-leadership approach to building high-performing systems that strengthen accountability, transparency, and long-term impact.

Kods Zouita is the Director of Finance & Investments at the American Muslim Community Foundation, where she oversees financial operations, investment strategy, and endowment management. In her role, she is responsible for strengthening financial oversight, supporting strategic planning and compliance, and enhancing systems and processes to improve operational efficiency.

Kods brings experience across both established institutions and startups, including roles as an auditor at a major bank and positions at global firms such as Dell Technologies. She holds an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and has a strong foundation in financial analysis and strategic management.

Originally from Morocco, Kods enjoys traveling, discovering new cultures, and spending time outdoors.

As AMCF’s Director of Nonprofits, Ola’s mission is to support our community’s countless amazing causes. She is passionate about connecting with nonprofit leaders and providing programming and resources to uplift their visions for change and institutional sustainability. In her role at AMCF, Ola helps manage AMCF’s hosted nonprofit endowments and is leading AMCF’s efforts to promote endowment building for American Muslim and ally nonprofits. Before her current role, Ola was the AMCF Nonprofits & Social Impact Fellow and then the Nonprofit Engagement Manager.

Prior to joining AMCF, Ola was an immigration attorney with the New York-based firm Aljijakli, Kosseff & Prendergast, LLC. Her work focused on asylum, family unification, and humanitarian-based cases. Her asylum clients’ harrowing stories of persecution, along with their resilience, strength, and hope for a better future, inspired Ola to volunteer at various refugee organizations, write about refugee rights, and advocate for holistic, human-centered support for displaced persons. Her pro bono efforts and legal training included work with the Karam Foundation, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Cairo, the CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project (Proyecto Dilley), and the International Rescue Committee.

Nora Moorefield is an experienced finance professional currently serving as the Director of Donor Relations at AMCF. Prior to this, she was the Donor Engagement Manager, where she cultivated meaningful relationships with donors to support the organization’s mission. With a background in finance and investment management, Nora spent several years in corporate roles, including as an Investment Management Operations Analyst at Federated Hermes and a Senior Account Analyst at BNY Mellon, where she honed her analytical and strategic skills.

Nora holds a degree in Accounting and has always been committed to balancing professional achievements with values rooted in service and integrity. Her career trajectory reflects a passion for giving back to the community, aligning Islamic principle and social responsibility. Nora is now dedicated to leveraging her expertise in financial management and donor relations to further the mission of AMCF, contributing to the advancement of the ummah.

Carl Dodge is a results-driven marketing and communications leader who is passionate about storytelling and strategic engagement. As the Director of Marketing & Communications at AMCF, Carl develops and implements high-impact marketing initiatives that amplify the organization’s mission, strengthen donor relationships, and enhance brand visibility.

With a deep understanding of digital marketing, content development, and audience engagement, Carl specializes in crafting compelling narratives that drive action. His expertise spans strategic brand management, cross-functional leadership, and performance-driven campaigns, ensuring that AMCF’s outreach remains impactful and relevant.

A three-time People’s Choice Podcast Host and Producer nominee, Carl is committed to leveraging innovative media strategies to create meaningful connections. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University, blending creative storytelling with analytical precision to maximize marketing effectiveness.

Lisa Kahler serves as Director of Community Programming at the American Muslim Community Foundation (AMCF), where she leads initiatives that strengthen community engagement, advance Muslim philanthropy, and support nonprofit capacity-building. She brings over 30 years of nonprofit experience, including more than 25 years in Islamic education, with a focus on building collaborative networks, developing giving circles, and creating impactful programs that serve diverse communities.

A 2025 Rockwood Equity in Philanthropy Fellow, Lisa is actively engaged with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) through the Inland Empire Chapter, its IDEA Committee, and as co-moderator of the Muslim Affinity Group. Her writing on Muslim philanthropy, nonprofit best practices, and education has been featured in Islamic Horizons and AFP Global. She has also served as a panelist and moderator on giving circles and Muslim philanthropy, bringing practical insights and a relationship-centered approach to her work.

Habibat T. Shittu, born in Nigeria and raised in New York, is a passionate and dynamic professional with over 10 years of experience in higher education, nonprofit services, and arts administration. She has a proven ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with diverse audiences and brings expertise in project management, team leadership, interpersonal relations, and community engagement, skills that uniquely position her to support AMCF’s mission.

In 2022, she founded Activate God, an interfaith initiative dedicated to helping people deepen their relationship with God and expand their understanding of different religions. Through daily personalized prayers, educational content on diverse faith traditions, and her Activate God Podcast, she inspires personal and spiritual growth and shares life lessons. Before joining AMCF, Habibat held roles at Rutgers University, the City College of New York, and the International Rescue Committee. She is currently the Assistant Director of Diversity & Inclusion at New York University (NYU) School of Law, where she spearheads the AnBryce Scholarship Program. Generally, she is committed to ensuring individuals have the resources they need to achieve their goals.

Habibat holds a B.A. from the City College of New York, an M.A. from NYU, and an Ed.M. from Rutgers University.

Munira Ahmed is a Philanthropy Fellow at the American Muslim Community Foundation. She supports grantmaking operations by maintaining and auditing donor, grantee, and fundholder records to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and effective reporting, while contributing to philanthropic strategies that advance community-centered giving.

She brings a background in management consulting, with experience supporting global HR transformation projects for Fortune 100 and 500 companies, where she developed expertise in project management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Management, Sociology, and Public Health and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management, with a focus on strategic philanthropy and impact measurement.

During the summer of 2024, Sakeena served as an undergraduate intern conducting research on investment committees, endowment councils, and awqaf, expanding her knowledge on endowments while applying the skills garnered through her research as a historian.

Currently, Sakeena is an undergraduate student at Wellesley College studying Economics and History and a volunteer at AMCF. Her dedication to giving back to the Muslim community comes from her experience as co-founder of WWP High School North’s Muslim Student Association, and through her understanding of the struggles that came with lack of representation in the public school system, Sakeena advocated for her peers’ concerns through discussions with district administration and fostered community amongst Muslim students and teachers during her time on the board. This long-standing personal drive combined with her current education at Wellesley extends to her work with AMCF, as Sakeena seeks to support Muslim-run non-profits around the nation via endowment and community. Her passion also manifests in her positions as Wellesley’s Muslim Life Assistant and Al-Muslimat’s Co-Vice President.

Sakeena loves drawing, playing tennis, and going on long walks. In her spare time, she develops video games and runs an Etsy shop independently.

Omar is a financial leader who believes that the way forward for philanthropy and the Muslim community is to build a sustainable framework for funding initiatives that can be both self-preserving and adaptable. Omar is also currently an active member at his local masjid where he volunteered as a teacher at their Sunday school. Omar has mainly focused his professional career in the asset management sector where he currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Cloverlay, a special situations private equity firm. Prior to joining Cloverlay, Omar worked at various other global alternative asset managers. Omar is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of NY. Omar enjoys traveling, experiencing other cultures, sports, and cooking. His most important role in this world is being a husband to his wife and a father to his three young children.

Dahlia’s journey in empowering and cultivating community began with a BA in Political Science from the University of Illinois. Her experiences in diverse global contexts have equipped her with deep social, cultural, and emotional intelligence.

Following 9/11, Dahlia was driven to protect her community from Islamophobia and elevate the narrative of Muslim Americans. She has worked with educators, officials, and the interfaith community on civil rights issues and was appointed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to address House members. She was also featured in Bassem Yousef’s TV series, “America in Arabic” for her role with the Arab-American caucus of the California Democratic Party.

In 2021, Dahlia completed a Certificate in Fund Raising Management (CFRM) from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and now serves as a board member for the American Muslim Community Foundation (AMCF), where she creates networks and fosters community connections. She was the campaign manager for Omar Din’s California state assembly race, where she led strategic initiatives and community engagement. This experience informs her current role with CAIR Action, where she aims to build political power and mobilize the community for a more inclusive and representative political landscape.

Mr. M. Fareed Farukhi, CPA is the Managing Partner at Farukhi & Company, LLP in Orange CA. Mr. Farukhi has over thirty-five years of tax, business consulting and M&A experience. The Firm consults for small to mid-size companies both domestic and international, advise high net-worth individuals and companies on tax and business strategies including working with non-profit entities.

Mr. Farukhi has served on various for-profit and non-profit Boards. He was past Chair and served as Commissioner with the Orange County Human Relations Commission 4th district, was the past Chairman of the Board of New Horizon School System overseeing its operations, finances and strategic growth initiatives, Mr. Farukhi presently serves on the Board of Vibrant Minds Charter Academy in Anaheim. Working on a startup ACT Charter Academy also in Anaheim. He was the past Chairman of the Board at the Islamic Society of Orange County in Garden Grove one of the largest Islamic Centers in Southern California, past Executive Board Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE). He has been active in the Orange County and Los Angeles communities serving and working in various capacities with organizations on issues dealing with homelessness, immigration, cultural diversity and understating, education, interfaith, health care, youth programs, and other social issues in providing direct services and resources. Organized and volunteered in civic engagement including political campaigns for candidates running for public office. Previously served on the Board of NCCJ and CCEJ and currently serving on the Board of Orange County Interfaith Network (OCIN), Board Member of American Muslim Community Foundation (AMFC), Board Member of Academy for Judaic, Christian and Islamic Studies. Mr. Farukhi is an advisor to various startup companies in technology, finance, and healthcare.

Mr. Farukhi is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Universal Heritage formerly Universal Heritage and Research Center (UHRC), a startup non-profit, whose mission is to foster cross cultural engagement, education, research and understanding of people of all backgrounds. An initiative to peace building through arts, music and culture in embracing humanity of its richness and diversity.

Universal Heritage is working with UCLA under an MOU to helping establish endowments for the YKL Library to sustain its special collections and manuscripts including programs for preservation, enhancement, amplification and accessibility of its vast collection and research.

During the 2019 COVID pandemic, Mr. Farukhi launched another non-profit to address food insecurity that afflicts communities across the nation. Harmony Bites a division of Risala USA Foundation, Inc was born that rescues food and serves families and adults with staple food items, fresh produce, and meals in Los Angeles, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, other parts of LA County and Orange County. Harmony Bites value is to dignify people and to “Empower People Through Food” taking a bite out of poverty with a long-term sustainability model for social impact investment, job creation and skills in the food business and addressing the food echo system from farm to table. Mr. Farukhi is a community leader, a visionary and a bridge builder to collaborate with people and communities for positive social change and meaningful impact.

Mr. Farukhi is married, a family man with three children and two grandsons, a longtime resident of Buena Park. He is from Bengaluru, South India and deeply cares for humanity.

Nawal Ali, a Chicago native, graduated from high school at the age of 16. This early academic triumph set the stage for an unconventional journey that led her to Syria, where she engaged in rigorous studies under scholars and enrolled in the Dawah program at Abu Noor University. Unfortunately, in 2011, the outbreak of war disrupted her Islamic educational pursuits.

Post her experiences in Syria, Nawal explored various countries, including Turkey and Lebanon. After graduating in Public Health and Wellness, she actively contributed to initiatives, focusing on disaster relief, mental health, and drug addiction.

In 2020, Nawal returned to the United States from Europe, choosing Boston as her new base. Here, she played a role in public health efforts, specifically addressing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a notable career transition in 2022, Nawal shifted her focus to program management and strategy. Presently, she holds the position of Head of Fund Development at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), contributing her skills and experiences to the organization’s growth and impact.

Amna Mirza is an award-winning FORBES featured marketing and brand strategist. Having worked with world renowned brands such as PBS, Independent Lens, SIRIUS XM’s Oprah Winfrey and NFL Channels, Amna has championed marketing transformation throughout her career. Using her marketing power for good, Amna has put the Muslim experience at the forefront of her work. As the former Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Zakat Foundation of America, Amna moved the humanitarian organization from an 8-million-dollar organization to a 21-million-dollar organization in less than 4-years, with back-to-back multi-million-dollar fundraising seasons. She’s now taken that success and kicked-off her own brand consultancy agency named, INFLUENCE, where she harnesses the power of influence for social good.

Naimah Bilal is a nonprofit fundraising executive, Emmy-winning storyteller, and fundraising strategist. With nearly 14 years of experience leading revenue strategies, she has stewarded multimillion-dollar fundraising efforts for mission-driven organizations spanning education, the arts, and reproductive justice.

As a movement philanthropy executive, Naimah is passionate about leveraging philanthropy to support communities in their goals to drive impactful change. She has built development models that center equity and sustainability, ensuring that resources are mobilized to strengthen intersectional social justice issues. Her expertise includes individual and principal major gifts strategy, institutional giving, and building cross-movement partnerships that center values-aligned giving.

In addition to her leadership in fundraising, Naimah is an Emmy-winning journalist, producer, and storyteller who uses narrative strategy to promote community care and amplify powerful ideas to create the equitable, sustainable and joyful world we want to see. She believes that philanthropy within the American Muslim community is both a sacred tradition and a strategic tool for advancing social good.

As a member of the AMCF Board of Directors, Naimah seeks to strengthen collective giving structures, amplify Muslim-led philanthropy, and build upon a strong culture of generosity that drives sustainable social good within and beyond the ummah.

Nabil Rehman is a native of Toronto, Canada, and holds a Bachelor of Mathematics in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo. Since graduation, he has called Orlando, Florida his home. Nabil works as a Software Development Manager and is responsible for engaging with clients, understanding their needs, and collaborating with technical teams to deliver software solutions that provide value to the business.

Nabil is an active Board Member at various Muslim nonprofits in the Central Florida area. He has taken on important roles such as Treasurer and has been in charge of operations staff. Nabil has completed several certification programs focused on nonprofit management. He has made significant contributions by assisting in defining program goals and metrics, managing fiscal responsibilities, streamlining operational processes, and hiring key staff to help grow a volunteer-run organization.

Nabil is dedicated to strategic philanthropy and is driven by a desire to inspire young donors, support individuals with innovative ideas to establish nonprofits, and aid in the growth of Muslim nonprofits by providing essential resources. His enthusiasm for grassroots philanthropy and the influence of giving circles is crucial in encouraging new individuals to participate in community-driven philanthropy. Nabil serves on the steering committee for Philanthropy Together’s We Give Summit and has been featured in “In Abundance: The 2023 Landscape of Collective Giving” report.

Anwar Khan is currently the CEO of AK Spark Consulting and consults with nonprofits in the US and internationally. He is a Co-Founder of Islamic Relief USA, with over 30 years of experience working in the field of humanitarian and development assistance at IRUSA. During his tenure at IR USA, he held various roles, ultimately becoming CEO and President. He is currently serving on the board of World Food Program USA, Alliance to End Hunger, and the American Muslim Community Foundation. Anwar also served on the Muslim Advisory Council at Lilly School of Philanthropy, Indiana University. He holds a B.S. in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham, U.K., and an M.A. in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University, Indianapolis. He resides in Northern Virginia, United States.
