Fremont, CA | March 12, 2026 — The American Muslim Community Foundation (AMCF) proudly announces the appointment of Shazeen Mufti as its new Executive Director, ushering in a new era of growth and leadership for the nation’s only community foundation dedicated to American Muslim philanthropy.

A recognized leader in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, Mufti brings over 25 years of experience in strategic planning, community engagement, and faith-inspired giving. Her relationship with AMCF began in 2021 as a founding member of the American Muslim Women’s Giving Circle. Most recently, she served as a strategic consultant, guiding AMCF through a pivotal phase of operational expansion and long-term visioning.

In her new role, Mufti will lead the foundation’s day-to-day operations — deepening donor engagement, scaling impact across programs, and strengthening AMCF’s infrastructure to sustain and grow Muslim philanthropy nationwide.

“Bringing Shazeen Mufti on as Executive Director marks a transformative moment for AMCF,” said Muhi Khwaja, Co-Founder of AMCF. “Her decades of nonprofit leadership and her deep personal connection to our mission make her the ideal person to guide our next chapter. From her early work with the Women’s Giving Circle to her recent role as a trusted advisor, Shazeen has demonstrated incredible heart, vision, and integrity. We are honored to have her at the helm.”

This leadership transition adds to Muhi Khwaja’s continued role as Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer. Since AMCF’s founding in 2017, Khwaja has been instrumental in establishing the organization as a national leader in faith-based, community-driven philanthropy.

“Muhi’s tireless dedication has transformed AMCF from a bold idea into a cornerstone of Muslim giving in America,” said Omar Hassan, Board President. “Both Shazeen and Muhi will steer AMCF’s strategic direction and sector-wide influence, while empowering the team to scale our collective impact.”

“I am grateful for this opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of AMCF. I’m truly humbled to work with such a wonderful team of staff, board members, community partners and philanthropic leaders. I wake up each day excited by the thought of how we can mobilize resources, strengthen institutions and grow community leaders to create a more equitable society grounded in Islamic values.”Shazeen Mufti, Executive Director
