At AMCF, we’re committed to strengthening the Muslim nonprofit sector through integrity, collaboration, and impactful giving. As we are working with the our nominees of the 2025 cycle of the AMCF Women’s Giving Circle, we’re usingCandid to promote transparency and trust in the organizations we support.
This year, all nominated organizations are required asked to share their Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency as their application to be considered. This approach helps streamline the process for nominees and gives our Giving Circle members a clear, trusted source of information when making funding decisions.
If you represent a nonprofit, here’s why earning a Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency is an important investment—and how to get started.
What Is the Candid Seal of Transparency?
The Candid Seal of Transparency is a nationally recognized designation that nonprofits can earn by sharing key information on Candid.org, the most widely used database for nonprofit research and verification. Candid, formed by the merger of GuideStar and Foundation Center, supports over 10 million users annually, including funders, donors, journalists, and institutional grantmakers.
There are four levels of the candid seal transparency system:
Bronze Level
Basic information including mission, programs, and contact details
Silver Level
Financials and leadership information
Gold Level
In-depth strategy, goals, and demographics
Platinum Level
Key performance indicators and measurable impact
The Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency is the highest level and demonstrates that an organization is not only transparent but also outcome-driven.
Why the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency Matters for Muslim Nonprofits
Funders Rely on Transparency Data
More than 78,000 funders and partners use Candid to inform their giving decisions. Many institutional grantmakers now require or strongly prefer nonprofits with a seal—especially those at the Gold or Platinum level. For Muslim nonprofits seeking foundation grants or corporate partnerships, the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency serves as crucial credentialing.
Increased Visibility in Nonprofit Databases
Nonprofits with a Candid Seal of Transparency receive 53% more profile views than those without. This visibility helps your organization get discovered on platforms like AmazonSmile, Facebook Giving Tools, Network for Good, and others. Enhanced visibility is particularly important for Muslim-led organizations working to expand their donor base beyond traditional community supporters.
Builds Public Trust and Credibility
In the nonprofit sector, transparency builds credibility. Sharing your financials, leadership, goals, and metrics helps donors and funders feel confident in supporting your mission. This trust-building is especially valuable for Muslim nonprofits, which may face additional scrutiny or unfamiliarity from mainstream funders.
Strengthens Strategic Organizational Alignment
The process of completing your Candid profile can help your team reflect on goals, strategies, and results. It serves as a valuable internal planning tool, in addition to its outward-facing benefits. Many nonprofit leaders report that pursuing the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency forced helpful strategic conversations about impact measurement and organizational effectiveness.
Significantly Boosts Fundraising Potential
According to Candid research, organizations with a Platinum Seal raise significantly more—up to 40% more in some cases—than organizations with no seal. A well-developed profile positions you for more funding opportunities and demonstrates the kind of operational excellence that major donors and foundations seek.
How to Earn the Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency
Earning a seal is free and available to any registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States. The process requires dedication but offers substantial returns on investment.
Step 1: Claim or Create Your Candid Profile
Visit www.candid.org and search for your organization. You’ll need to verify your identity as an authorized representative to claim the profile. If your organization doesn’t appear, you can create a new profile.
Step 2: Add Core Organizational Information
Provide your mission statement, program summaries, leadership information, and contact details to reach the Bronze level. This foundational information helps donors and funders understand your organization’s purpose and approach.
Step 3: Complete Financial and Structural Details
Add your IRS documentation, annual financials, board member list, and diversity, equity, and inclusion data to progress through Silver and Gold levels. Financial transparency is particularly important for building trust with institutional funders.

- 1-5 key results or metrics your organization tracks consistently

AMCF will work separately with nominees that experience difficulties claiming their Candid Profile, and obtaining the Gold or Platinum Seals of Transparency.
Nomination Timeline
Nomination Window: August 1 – September 5, 2025
Each current Women’s Giving Circle member may nominate one eligible organization during this time period. Organizations must have earned their Candid Gold or Platinum Seal of Transparency before the nomination deadline.
Strategic Benefits for Muslim Nonprofit Organizations
The Candid Seals of Transparency offer particular advantages for Muslim-led nonprofits:
Access to Mainstream Philanthropy
Many foundations and corporate giving programs use Candid profiles as their primary research tool. Having a comprehensive, professional profile increases your organization’s discoverability by funders who might not otherwise encounter Muslim-led nonprofits.
Competitive Advantage in Grant Applications
When foundations receive hundreds of applications, those from organizations with Platinum seals often receive priority review. The seal signals operational maturity and impact measurement capabilities that funders value.
Enhanced Credibility for Interfaith Partnerships
Nonprofit partnerships increasingly require due diligence. Organizations with strong Candid profiles can more easily establish partnerships with interfaith coalitions, secular nonprofits, and government agencies.
Donor Confidence Building
Individual donors, particularly those giving substantial amounts through donor advised funds, often research organizations on Candid before making grants. A comprehensive profile with impact metrics builds confidence and encourages larger gifts.
