The basics
What is the AMCF Nonprofit Directory?
It is a public, searchable listing of Muslim-led and Muslim-serving nonprofit organizations working across the United States. Donors use it to find organizations to support. Volunteers use it to find work near them. Funders and partners use it to find organizations already doing what they want to fund.
Your listing carries your mission, a description of your work, your public contact information, and the categories that describe your focus areas.
Does it cost anything?
No. Listing is free. There is no membership requirement, no application fee, and no cost at any stage.
Do I have to be an AMCF grantee to be listed?
No. The Directory is open to the wider field. You do not need to be an AMCF grantee, fundholder, or endowment partner to appear in it.
To be eligible, your organization needs to be a registered 501(c)(3) in good standing with the IRS, based in the United States, and led by or primarily serving the American Muslim community, or working on issues of direct concern to it.
If you are not certain you qualify, register anyway. We would rather review a borderline submission than miss an organization that belongs in the Directory.
How do I know if my organization is already listed?
Search for your organization name in the Directory. Many organizations that have received a grant from AMCF, hold an endowment with us, or have worked with us in the past are already in our system and may already appear.
If you find your organization but the information is out of date, you do not need to register again. You need access so you can update it yourself. See Signing in below.
If you do not find your organization, go to How do I join.
How do I join?
If your organization is not already in the Directory, you can add it yourself. Registration is free, open, and takes about ten minutes.
Register your organization
Have these on hand before you start:
- Your organization’s EIN, formatted 12-3456789
- Your annual operating budget
- Your mailing address and main phone number
- A public contact name, email, and phone for your listing
- Your mission statement
- A description of your organization and its work
- The categories that best describe your focus areas, up to three
The form has two parts. The first collects what AMCF needs internally to create your organization’s record. The second collects what appears publicly on your Directory profile. The two are kept separate on purpose.
Start Your Registration →What happens after I submit?
- You submitYour registration goes straight to the AMCF team.
- We reviewWe verify your nonprofit status and check that your profile is complete. If anything is unclear, we will email the contact you gave us.
- Your listing goes liveYou receive an email telling you how to sign in and manage your profile. Signing in uses the email address on your record plus a one-time PIN, so there is no password to create.
Signing in
You do not need a password. The portal emails you a one-time PIN each time you sign in. All you need is the email address AMCF has on file for your organization.
Where do I sign in?
Go to the AMCF portal at amuslimcf.fcsuite.com/erp/portal and enter the email address AMCF has on file for your organization. We email you a PIN. Enter the PIN and you are in.
There is nothing to set up first and no password to remember. If your organization has already set up a username and password with us, use those instead.
I entered my email and no PIN arrived.
Check your spam folder first. PINs usually arrive within a minute or two.
If nothing arrives, the most likely reason is that the address you entered is not the one we have on file, or that we do not have an address for your organization at all. Email nonprofitengage@amuslimcf.org from an address at your organization’s domain, tell us your organization name and EIN, and we will get you set up.
Can more than one person from my organization have access?
Yes. We can link several people to your organization’s record, each with their own access, and set what each person is able to update.
Email nonprofitengage@amuslimcf.org from an address at your organization’s domain with the names and email addresses of the people who should have access.
The person who had our access has left the organization.
Email nonprofitengage@amuslimcf.org from an address at your organization’s domain and tell us who should hold access now. We will add the new person, remove the old one, and update the contact record so PINs go to the right inbox.
Can I turn on two-factor authentication?
Yes. Once you are signed in, open the profile icon in the portal and choose Security.
Your profile
What can I edit myself?
Once you are signed in you can update the public face of your listing, including your public contact person, phone number, email address, website, and the categories that describe your focus areas.
Some fields are held by AMCF for record-keeping, including your EIN and your legal organization name. If one of those needs to change, or if you want to update your mission statement, your organization description, or your logo and do not see a field for it, email nonprofitengage@amuslimcf.org and we will make the change for you.
How do categories work?
Categories are how donors filter the Directory to find the kind of work they want to support. You select the ones that describe your focus areas, up to three, and you can change them at any time from your profile.
Pick the categories a donor would actually search, not the ones that sound the most comprehensive. An organization listed under everything is findable under nothing.
How do I remove my organization from the Directory?
Email nonprofitengage@amuslimcf.org and we will unpublish your listing. Listing is voluntary and there is no penalty for leaving.
The Grantee Portal
If your organization has received funding from AMCF, the same access that manages your Directory profile also opens your grant history. This is one of the most requested things AMCF has ever been asked for, and it is now self-service.
What you can see and download
- Every grant your organization has received from AMCF
- The amount, date, and fund behind each grant
- Downloadable grant letters for your records, your auditors, and your own reporting
One sign-in covers both the Directory profile and the Grantee Portal. There is nothing separate to request. Sign in at the AMCF portal.
Can I export our records?
Yes. The Grantees tab in your portal has an export function that pulls your grants and the donations your organization has received, including donations that came in through your Directory listing.
Useful at audit time, at the close of your fiscal year, or any time your board asks where the money came from.
A grant is missing from my history, or an amount looks wrong.
Email nonprofitengage@amuslimcf.org with your organization name and the grant you are asking about, including the approximate date and amount. We will check the record and correct it if needed.
We have never received a grant from AMCF. Can we still be listed?
Yes. The Directory and the Grantee Portal are two things that share one sign-in. You can hold a Directory listing with no grant history at all. Your portal will simply show no grants.
Donations through the Directory
Can donors give to my organization directly from my listing?
Yes, for organizations that are set up to receive them. Your listing carries a donation panel where a donor can choose an amount, add a tribute in memory or in honor of someone, and give by credit card.
Can donors give from a donor advised fund?
Donors who hold a donor advised fund at AMCF can recommend a grant to your organization through their own portal. Donors with a fund elsewhere can recommend a grant to you the same way they would to any 501(c)(3), using the EIN on your listing.
Office hours
Some questions are faster to work through live than over email. We hold dedicated office hours for exactly that.
Bring your questions to us
Office hours are open to any organization listed in the Directory and any organization thinking about getting listed. You do not need to be an AMCF grantee to attend. Bring questions about:
- Registration and eligibility
- Signing in and navigating the AMCF Portal
- Updating your profile and choosing the right categories
- Anything that is not working the way you expect
Coming in with a specific question is the fastest way to get a useful answer, but you are welcome to attend and just listen.
